I'm been happily using build 21.4.1 pretty much since it's release and have been avoiding upgrading to build 30 because of several posts I read earlier this year about a bunch of different issues, specifically about darker negatives and black speckles in the blue channel.

So, months later, I'm about to start production on a feature and I'm considering what build I should be using. Is it time to upgrade? Thoughts?

    THANKS! :)

Upgrade. Redcolor is WAY better then Redspace for monitoring.

Thanks, Julio. Keep the opinions coming.

Question about redcolor. I like editing with the camera generated proxies. Right now, using redspace, my RED LCD, camera proxies, and redcine-x, images all line up pretty well. Will that still be the case with redcolor?

    THANKS! :)

    I allways hated RedSpace... -:)

To me B30 was when the cam fianlly became what it was supposed to be all along.

Give it a dig. You can downgrade if you don't like it.

    Cheers!

Brandon, the blue channel was fixed in build 30.6...no more speckles :) RedColor is solid and loads better than RedSpace in my opinion. I would strongly suggest you give build 30 a try like Gunleik said. If you hate it, you can downgrade, but my money says you'll like it. Good luck on your project. Peace.

If I remember correctly, you will lose the ability to zoom in to the image while playback and if you wish to use "false colors" for exposing (like I do), then you will need to set your "video exposure setting" to 0.9 in order for the "red" color to show when you overexpose.
