Bought some 19mm rods from ET.
    Import classification was "Climbing ropes"...

Today I got a letter from the Customs warehouse.
    They dismissed my appeal.
Reason is (it is not a joke):
    Basically they wrote:
"USB ports allow a bidirectional access to the Camera
even if they are only used as a voltage out, they are there"

So TARIC is now: 8525 8099 00 means 12% Duty

I could do another administrative appeal but itīs too ridicolous, so I give up and pay.

Can you pay with chickens and salt like old times? Since this seems to be an heritage how the kingdoms back on the 5th century collected their taxes.

I'm more worried about the epics. What will we have to pay over a camera worth 28.000 dollars? I hope Red will let us receive them from Red Europe, maybe we won't have to pay anything?

I'm an honest hard working guy. Last week driving into Canada across the border from the USA, I get asked the standard question, "Did you buy or receive anything while in the US?". I wonder how many Canadians the Government employs and gives indexed pension plans to, just to ask honest hard working Canadians if they bought or received anything. Half of Canada must work for the Government. The USA is headed in that direction. The destruction of free enterprise and it's replacement with bogus government jobs will head us back into the Middle Ages.

I just had to pay an extra €500.00 in "adjusted import duty" courtesy of Austria for one of my RED cameras....:(

I'm also surprised that they can charge additional duty retroactively. There have been a few cute remarks regarding it, but no one has said how they can actually do this? I can see them changing the law from today on, but retroactively? That's just nuts!

Having said that, in Australia the State government is trying to back out of solar contracts they signed with households across the state, reducing the amount they pay for the electricity provided. They will probably back down after all the negative press, but they still are trying it.

    Ridiculous!

I wonder how they will achieve this noble goal :-)
My understanding of laws (and by-laws like rules etc) is that they canīt be applied retroactively.

OTOH if RED Europe were to go into selling cameras in the EC at some point, this whole BS will be handled by their importing agency.
