it can if you are finishing inside of da vinci. i've been able to output cineform all i want, the biggest unfortunate thing about cineform is that it really hasn't caught on as a industry standard, and only works in your own personal workflow. sending it off to clients are post houses hasn't worked out, for some reason you tell them they need to install a codec to open up a file and they freak out, and wind up converting it all to pro res anyway. It's happened to me a few times, and i just haven't bothered with it anymore.

If you install the trial version of cineform studio premium you can render out of resolve cineform files, when the trial expires you have to buy the license. The codec is brilliant, also the possibility to apply lut with metadata is really smart and there's no gamma shift with cineform.

If the client specifically asks for pro res I can do that for them anytime and keep a cineform master file for myself. The codec to play back cineform is free. So my question is, who's working in cineform right now?

Do you find it easy on your computer to edit in?
Has it shown any kind of conflict in workflow, client delivery, etc? any minor detail is welcome.

does it save or add more hard drive space?

finally, the cineform website is a little confusing... which version do i need to buy to write in cineform? should I get he one that lets me write in 4k? does it cover all the lower resolutions? the 4k one is really expensive...
Cineform works well. I recomend it.

    Hi Paul,

It does convert R3D files, you just have to use the command line interface or Scripts. The Scripts will do bulk processing of a directory. You can find the command line format in the manual and the Scripts are installed under Tools in the Ciniform application launcher in the Start menu.

Well, I found the documentation for the Davinci Resolve supported Codec's here: http://blackmagic-design.com/media/2...codec_list.pdf

I am now very sad, as Cineform is supported on both Mac and Linux, but NOT Windows.

As of Beta 2 there's Cineform on Windows. I haven't tried it, but the option is there.
