What about the new Nvidia gtx-680 gpu-engine? http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desk...specifications
So I Have a i7 3930k with 1 quadro 4000 for editing and no other cards. It is very fast but i wanted to do some grading and I am getting a error in Davinci saying "no open cl". Is this because the quadro 4000 doesn't support "open cl". If not would 2 gtx580 (one for interface and one for power) cards work instead of the quadro? I believe the gtx580 supports "open cl". Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot
filmer. the quadro should work as a gpu fine but resolve needs a regular graphics card for the gui. they recommend a gt120 but yea 2x gtx 580 would be awesome.
sounds like your CUDA is not working properly. Can you just check that you have the right Nvidia drivers installed?
I've just discovered this thread. It seems particularly relevant knowing the Mac Pro will only be updated next year.
I have a naive question : does MACHETE do all the work installing OS X, or do I have to follow your tutorial in addition to some tutorial like this one from tonymacx86 ?
If anyone can help with a couple of questions regarding a hackintosh build, I'd much appreciate it.
I'm currently in the process of building a hackintosh (foremost as a test to see if it's feasible, if it doesn't work out it'll end up as a PC workstation). My first question is does it help with Resolve to have a fast GUI card? So should I get a GTX560 for GUI and a 3GB GTX 580 for CUDA or will I get the same performance if I just get the cheapest available card for GUI?
I was also wondering if it would be useful to just get two GTX 580 cards and set them for SLI. I know OS X doesn't support SLI, but will setting them up hurt working in Resolve? Will it still be able to use them separately (one for GUI and one for CUDA)?
Just wanted to post a big thank you to Luigi. I built one of these systems for a friend last August. Luigi was very helpful and the system has been running Resolve in the studio now for about 9 months. Here is a link to a photo of the inside of the case... Its nothing fancy but performs fantastic@! https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqhqla2lm2...618_164044.jpg
EDIT:- This is a bit confusing. I am using Machete 3.
I install Chameleon x58 on the Lion partition
I install 570 update on the Boot partition.
Unlike Machete 2, there is no option to install an Extra folder on Lion partition. Is that the problem ?
I am using a PC case that only allows for 2 cards. So I have 2x EVGA cards. One 560 Ti and one 560 448 core.
I am using sockets 3 and 5.
During the boot it hangs at
[PCI Configuration Begins]
So I used npci=0x2000
Now it got to a white window with a spinning sphere.
Any ideas :-(
I know its only supported for 3 cards, but Im hoping there is an easy fix as I do not want to buy another case and PSU to make this work..
