Sometimes our dear editors make offline edits with increased/decreased speed or reversed time in FCP. Because that looks so cool!

But to export a XML properly for RedCine-X, or in this case Storm, to recognize it correctly, the different effects must be put off. So if you have a longer timeline, the time to put off these effects, take some time. And time is of the essence in our world folks! And of course money...

At this moment the clips have, for example, increased speed. But the In and Out marks are not correct.

So I was wondering how this can be worked around? As easy as possible of course. I want to have the editors effects still on, but for Storm to recognize the effect and still link the XML with the RED media correctly, with no effect, just the correct In and Out marks.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

    Hi Stan,

At the moment there is no workaround that we can think of, however, we will be adding this function in a future release. I have logged this as feature request #16441.

    Kind Regards,
    Daniel

I just want to add, that we've been looking at a lot of grading solutions, and this seems to be a universal issue.

I'm sure there are complications on the back end that cause this that I'm not even aware of, but man, whoever figures out an elegant solution for taking a timeline out to grade, and then back in, with no slip of frames, wins.

    Just, outright, wins the game.

The speed changes conforming problem, that you're alluding to only applies to R3D files. For this purpose, QT and DPX files work just fine. The problem is, that at this time you can't play R3D files at any speed other, that it was shot in camera. So, some grading systems, like FilmMaster, that does DPX conversion prior to grading can do just that- conform a time line with speed changes intact. Unfortunately, if quality slow motion playback is a concern, you're right back to Twixtor or something similar...
