As a RED Operator and a former Motocross Racer..(back when there was minimal suspension). I remember seeing a motocross magazine with these cool RED Oakley Grips (I think it was around 1979), the problem was up here in Canada you couldn't buy them yet! All the cool stuff was down in California...lucky I had a cousin down there that sent them up to me. I remember the feeling of showing up at the track and all the other racers checking out my bike. Back then the bikes only came with these hard black grips...not these cool soft RED ones made in the USA by none other then Oakley!

Fast forward to 2009, as a DP/Operator in video for over 20 years for the small screen, I am introduced to the R1..and I have the same feeling as I did with those RED Oakley MX Grips!
My first shoot is to go up to the Yukon and shoot the Aurora Borealis in -40c...(see links below)...she didn't let me down. The Epic will be too much camera for what I do, but I am so looking forward to the Scarlet Fixed Lens. I think for small screen work, Doc's, Lifestyle ect. this will be the ultimate tool.

I consider Jim Jannard to be as innovative with his RED technology as George Eastman was with film back in the late 1800s.
Thank you Mr. Jannard for both the Oakley RED MX Grips and I hope..soon, my very own RED Scarlet. (hope it won't be as hard to get as those Grips).
