    Hi,

i have done my edit in premiere pro cs5 (red and 7d shots). My film export final is 2k, and in premiere pro, i've my project in 2k and enjoyed the 4k red shots resolution to pan and scan in it. Then i want ro grade in scratch and want to know how moving to it. That's whyu, for ceserving the pan and scan, i've exported the entire film in dpx 10bit, my question is :

    - How can Scratch detect scene without using the scene detect of the program (because i already test it, and its not realy working).

    - is that a better way to do this ?

    sorry im a begginer...

EDL and conform in Scratch that is the best way to go.

If you want to use your DPX's you can reverse assemble the EDL on those DPX's.

You can load the DPX's in scratch and the EDL of the CUT and apply reverse assemble. Scratch will put the cuts in place.

Just load your EDL and do a regular "start matching" conform with timecode enabled and Reel name enabled.

    Hi Eric

good to see is working now. you should also try to load the r3d's on scratch and work native, one of the advantages of having SCRATCH.

Eric, ... glad to hear you were able to Reverse Assemble. As Leo explained you can also reconform to the original R3D files ... that is the way to get the best results as you would be debayering to SCRATCH's floating point engine in 16 bits if you use the proper RED settings.

About Scene Detection ... a good trick is to do it in segments. Cut the movie in shorter segments so you don't have to scene detect very long clips. Once you have inserted cuts in your master clip remember to click on "FIT IN/OUT + ALL" at the Construct level to fit the clip size, remove handles and make the process more efficient.

Avoid and cut out black frame sequences as the contrast change is too much and it affects how other cuts are rated in percentage of image change. SCRATCH's Scene Detection works great for me. Just remember to click on "FIT IN/OUT + ALL" every time you scene detect a segment.
