I'm currently in post editing a music video. I'm using the offline clipfinder workflow as usual. I came across something. Some of the r3d files never had any proxies generated for some clips, so my question is how do I go about taking the r3d files and creating proxies for them using clipfinder. Is this possible. I want to be able to relink back to the 4k down when I get picture lock. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There should be a menu option somewhere in Clipfinder to regen the proxies. That said, you're probably better off using RedCine-X to do so.

Sorry I can't give you specific menu pointers, I'm not at my work machine. But I know they're there, with a little digging.

If that doesn't work, you can do it in Redrushes or RedcineX.
In Red Rushes (free download from Redsupport), simply import your files, go to the QT rappers menu up top, and select make all wrappers. Go to your R3D folders and Presto...they will be there. It's that simple.

RedRushes is *NOT* a good choice, unless you're working with an older camera/footage. The tools included in Rushes don't support the new color science updates, so you'll get strange tints to your quicktimes. I honestly have no idea why Rushes/RedAlert is still on the download page.

If only some clips on same mag from the same camera don't have proxies, it's likely the camera did not complete the "POST" stage after recording the clips. While you can regenerate proxies, chances are that those clips will be truncated takes, although probably will have useable footage.
