Somehow, the shot worked out great! The sky was a subtle, pastel orange and pink, mixed with white clouds, which blended nicely against the white, salty ground as the camera flew over it. My hope was to move the camera in a "Z-axis" move, meaning as straight forward as possible. Lens was 16mm, so I had the camera off to the side of the slider a bit, and the slider itself just slightly caddy-corner. I call this a quasi-Z-Axis move.
i totally understand rushing for that one shot! Glad you have an Epic back in hand!

I took another crack at Badwater again yesterday evening. No grad ND, so I was relying on the dynamic range of the camera. In a sense, because the ground is white, this actually helps. I was able to see a lot of detail in the salt patterns while holding exposure on the clouds.

I actually shoot differently on the Epic vs how I used to shoot on the MX, mainly due to it's size. Those are two sandbags holding the blocks of wood.

Tom, I'm a little out of the loop on your recent adventures with your M. Glad to see you and #188 back in action. Watching the RC heli go down with #188 on it must have been a sight bordering on traumatic!

In this most recent outing are you doing time lapse with it, or real time motion pictures, or both?

So far, I am shooting all realtime on the Epic. The lowest framerate available right now is 12fps. I am, however, very excited about the forthcoming timelapse functions on Epic.
