thats a great shot with the god ray hitting the epic
Me and Nilo filming water elements yesterday evening in the high Sierra.
I got the Redvolts, and will report soon here on my thoughts about them.
Tom, i know you've mentioned before, but what tripod you using? fat chance i'd get my 1030 in water like that....smaller diameter locking sticks.....good way to go.....living on the edge with that shot...
I would get a floatie or at least a plastic bag around that Epic. What are you trying to do?
Give us cheap thrills?? Can't wait to see the finished movie.
Johnny, they are Manfrotto 536 with 100mm bowl. Best sticks on the planet. The head is a simple Vinten 8AS.
thanks Tom. was looking for good light-weight sticks with locking legs....my 1030 with spreaders not best solution for some in water stuff....
These 536's don't have mid or ground support, but as you can see, they are plenty strong! Plus I can use them in mud, snow, water, salt water, etc. They blow away the CF sticks that Vinten sent me with the Vision 8AS.
I even use these sticks as the base for my Kessler Pocket Jib, with over 100 lbs on it.
Brilliant
Great tip Tom! I just put the 536 on my shopping list.
How do you like the Vinten head?
Filming more water elements at Yosemite this morning.![]()
