Knowing some probable history of the red lenses that are already available and some guessings on their primes that will show up, why do brands like sigma, tamron , canon and nikon...don't show up providing pl mount lenses.
Knowing they're going for large salesnumbers, but seeing the future red user group, wouldn't it be wise for them (and us) to jump on this train themselves.
They sure must have the knowledge to do so.

The filmmaking crowd is much smaller than the still photography crowd, so I don't see the appeal for Sigma, Tamron, etc. to start making PL mount cine lenses.

Keep in mind that before RED there were probably only 10,000 cameras in the world with the PL mount (thats conservative, it's likely that the number is much less)

High end Cinema glass is a teeny tiny market that demands expensive materials, construction, and quality control. As a business you'd have to be pretty nuts to get into it (Jim).

    Ok David & Mike,

but like I said with all the rumors and maby truth that the reds are rehoused sigma's, it would'nt cost sigma to much r&d, i suppose to make these lenses then on their own.

They can just make a few and charge $10,000+ for them. They'll make money then! :)
November 3rd is likely to be the most watched day in Reduser history. It will be well worth it.
