    Hey Jim!

About a week or so ago I asked about shipping for Epics, and you gave me a fantastic, and specific answer (Thanks again for that). Seeing as how you expect/hope to ship another 250 Epics before NAB, I am guessing this will certainly include some Epic Xs and I THINK I may be one of them!

NAB is 4 weeks 2 days away. So I am ass -uming that things could start popping within the next two weeks here. I have begun to channel my funds and get ready, but I still have a nagging question I was hoping you could now answer, or at least tell me WHEN it would be answered:

    What am I getting?

There has been a LOT of evolution to the system since the Stage 2 process was announced, and so I am no longer really sure as to what the package will include. The reason this matters so much was that I really planned every penny back when the Epic X package was first announced.. You know, Bomb EVF, CF Cards, Plates, etc.. However now the SSDs are out there, and while I think they are PERFECT for the new system, their costs throw my budget around a little, so I am trying to get a handle on the new numbers, and what I'll be getting. I'm also VERY curious if the Canon Mount will be available when the EPICs ship.

A a personal note: I am REALLY excited about all this.. I have watched as you all have run ONE HELL of a beta program this time around, and these cameras have become EXTREMELY bullet proof.

Ok so that's the request, any information you can give would be wonderful.

Same here. I am hoping for 150+ Epic X's delivered by NAB, and I hope #683 is low enough on the list to get one by May, I have big plans in May and would kill for and Epic by then, O.K not actually "kill" but...

Obviously they are still TAILORING all sort of packages that would be ready for NAB presentation.

That means short before or after NAB should be everything clear about that.

Epic cameras to be delivered as per Jim's recent post in Recon should surpass 500 before NAB, so it is safe to say that not all 100%
of Red Camera owners did the stage II so IMO you will be in this 500 before NAM Mark ;)

Ketch, thanks for the comforting words. I plan to take my Epic back to your homeland in May to get some Epic shots of Italy in Spring time.

    But that's M + X, as far as I read it.

So far 250+ M's are out.

Anyhow. The question Jay posts is more interesting, as the cameras inevitably will come when they eventually come.

    Cheers!

If you take it as 250+ M's and the remaining from the 500 to be delivered by NAB would be X's then you take into account the unofficial list of Stage 2 owners...
It looks like they will fill stage 2 by May

In which case packages and more info about pricing etc. should come out in the next week or two

Though that is one heck of a number...it's amazing that there are so many out there... 250 for a camera of that intensity isn't exactly easy to spit out

Yeah I guess reading Jim's post again it could well be that this is M + X ;)

Edit: after Jim's other post, it was talking indeed that out of the 500 Delivered Epic before NAB, mostly will be Epic M to be delivered,
but Epic X will also start delivery before NAB ;)

one package doesn't fit everyone. Look at Gibby vs Rossi. One camera, but two very different cinematography styles.

A few base sample packages for different styles would be nice to see.

Hopefully a "package builder" will emerge. A system to take a camera, add different parts that are qualified for compatibility, with a suggestion system for recommending packages.
With all due respect, this is not the subject of this thread. Epic Stage 2 is to come with a pre-determined list of items. This list has most likely changed since it was introduced and the goal of this thread is to find out what those changes are so those of us in Stage 2 can make the right plans.

Your post is a good one, but I want to keep the focus here on the chance that Jim may drop by.
