  1. #1 WTB: HMI ELECTRONIC KIT - PAR - 1200 watt
    Hi,

I'm interested in buying a HMI PAR 1200 watt kit.

BTW: Anyone know if the eBay sold "Chinese as Arri" products are usable?

    Best regards,
    Jon Michael Puntervold

I have a cool lights 1200 par that has never as much as hiccuped.
I have heard the wiring on the cheaper ones in not up to snuff, but do not know from personal experience. In 25 years I have learned you usually get what you pay for

Did not think about Cool Lights, it's indeed very cheap compared to DeSisti or Arri

BTW: Do you know if the the ballast is compatible with Arri lights?

I am a big fan of desisti. Arri and desisti , used, are hard to beat bang for the buck.

agreed... if you can find used arri or desisti you could go that route. I have had many used arris and desisti's over the years with pretty good luck. Some times you get other people problems buying used, sometimes you find gems. I've found that HMI's in general can be a little temperamental at times. Pyramid Films used to have lots of used fixtures, not sure what they have anymore. I do not believe the Cool Lights are compatible with Arri.

I've received an offer for an Arri 1200 HMI Par. Anything I should think about before buying such an apparatus?

I've got a bunch of KinoFlo and tungsten Arri fresnels already, but have _no_ experience with the more complicated HMI systems.

Arri are known for quality, but do HMI often need repairs for instance, are they costly to maintain?

Any transfer of knowledge would be greatly appreciated! :)
