I am looking to order a downconverter from HD-SDI to an analog NTSC video feed. Can anyone recommend anything? I need to take the HD-SDI feed out and plug it into old analog video gear.

This would be one option. On B&H for 1,899.00.

Is there any difference between the two mentioned above, from AJA and Evertz. The Evertz one seems to be more expensive (a lot from what I could find), so I am wondering what it does that the AJA doesn't. Thanks.

You might want to look at the Black-magic design's Multibridge Pro 2. At first I considered the Aja I/O HD, but you're limited to 1080p. Then I considered the Black-magic Eclipse because it handles 2K. I've finally decided on the Multibridge Pro2. It pretty much does everything the Eclipse does, even 2K, but for half the price a little over $1500. The only difference is the amount of audio inputs. I don't need sixteen, so I'm saving $2000!

I already have an AJA IO HD. I am also getting the AJA HD10MD3 now, after researching both it and the Evertz. And I am also getting 3 of the AJA HI5 (HD-SDI - HDMI) for monitoring. All these together will handle my downconverting/upconverting/cross converting needs.

Only one question I have not been able to answer. Can the AJA downconverter (HD10MD3) be powered from a camera, and if so, what cable would I need to buy to do this?

I agree it is an excellent solution for the price. For those of you who haven't looked at this; make sure you're looking at Blackmagic-design's Multribridge Pro (2), not the Multibridge Pro! There's a big difference between the Pro (2) and the original Pro. It's been updated. You can still find the original Pro on the market, but for the same price, you'll want the Pro2!
