Nice. If I could afford lights like that on all my productions, I wouldn't even be discussing still glass.
Thank you for the review Evin.
I own a good collection of fine well functioning Nikon primes and have been happy with them on the Red.
Now is the time to change with Epic cominng and I have problems deciding between Nikon or Canon.
What do you feel are the advantage of the "G" serie compared to the Canon primes?
Just kidding, of course, but I do hope that the Nikon mount is a solid locking system, unlike Red's first offering. Anybody heard? If not, maybe Optitek will save the day again.
Thanks again, Evin, for your many generous contributions to this forum.
I have been waiting on this set for supply to rise and price to drop.......ooops, surprise tsunami.
Meanwhile, I'm curious about how the Red 17-50 compares, used as a variable prime, at a similar cost to 3 of these Nikons.
I looked up the DX sensor size and found it is less than 24mm wide. I believe the recording area of the Epic sensor is about 27mm wide. Are we sure these lenses will not vignette?
The FX versions are full frame.
Thanks guys. For some reason, when I looked at this thread again, all the sudden "G" equaled "DX" in my little brain.
