Hey guys, I'm based in Austin/Fort Worth and wanted to network with others. If you need to rent a RED in Texas, I'm the guy to come to!

or me...also in Austin - I'm partnering with someone with a full 35mm package - so PL mount lenses, heavy sticks, matte box, follow focus, etc.
Austin here too (though I work in Dallas a lot on commercials, etc); I'm going to be doing the DP for hire with equipment thing. Planning on cine-style setup with Cooke s4/i primes and all related gadgetry. I'm avalable for features, shorts, cine-syle docs, VFX shooting, commercials, etc.
Are any of y'all interested in forming a local user group to meetup regularly and exchange ideas, techniques, footage, tips/tricks, and generally hang out?
Maybe we could start a 24-hour RED-Austin short film race. ;)
I'd love to setup a local user group. We should meet in Austin sometime...I would love to network with you guys, it'd be a great chance to POSSIBLY hook each other up with equipment....
Austin is the place to be for indie, but I'm out of good ol' San Antonio. I reserved a RED, but am still in the financial planning phase of a producing a full length feature around Nov/Dec. In fact, Wade McDonald was one of several DPs that responded to my posting. My plan is to hire a DP with a RED ONE and if finances allow, be able to keep a RED ONE for myself as well. The main reason I want to hire a DP is so that they can concentrate on the cinematography while I concetrate on directing, working with the actors, and any other issues that may arise. It's good to see that there is a strong RED presence in Texas.
You should add Robert Rodreguiz to the list, I'm sure he bought a few of these Reds.
Howdy gents,
I'm in Austin as well. I look forward to being able to network with other Red One users in the region.
Best,
Michael
I'm a San Antonio Director/DP mostly for TV Spots and I'm in line for Red #100. I have owned the Varicam for three and a half years and I am very much looking forward to getting the red because as good as the varicam is, it just can't compete with 35mm. My company, Apple Productions, is a complete productions house, with 4 edit suites, a shooting stage, 3d graphics and location production from DV to Varicam to 35mm. We do not plan to rent the red but we are hoping to convert our film clients to this amazing new way to shoot and I would love to work with some independent film makers offering a camera/DP package.
I'm in Houston about to start a new production company with some well connected folks in my hometown of New Orleans (now the 3rd biggest film town in the country). There will come a time we'll need a second Red and possibly a DP as I'm more a writer/director (I'm learning though), so I'll keep you gents in mind.
Me too - I'll host if you'd like to come over to Steiner Ranch...
