Hybrid View

  1. #1 RedCine feedback..
    To start with.. Love It!

I have a mix of r3d files inc Jim's drag one. Running on a MBP 2.33 2 gig.

    In no particular order.

1, When you go to save a Project.. any chance of a "new folder" option.. or am I missing it?
    Edit.. Create Directory .. doh!..

2,Can't seem to select a clip in the library.. the current one from player is always selected.. I can select to drag.. or copy /move but always returns to the one I exited the player with. Is there an option just to select (highlight) another column?

3, love the meta data preview in the library.. neat. (click on the lower part of clip)

4, The duplicate copied with diff grade options rocks! superb! Switch between graded clips with RT playback :-o

5, I have some clips that play realtime, others dont, others stutter.. then play RT then stutter. Is this a read frames ahead thing along with a mbp? Seems a bit random in areas of shots though.

Running on 10.5 given it a pretty good beating.. not crashed once yet.

Love the swipe options.. so good with a wacom :)

    Cheers
    S

    Good thread idea amigo!

These are my comments from another thread:

When I loaded the R3D file I had to resize it to 50% to get the whole image.
Apple leopard doesn't seem to have a little RED thumbnail to stick onto the file, (essential to quickly distinguish RED footage from crap footage..)
What settings should we grade our monitors to? 1.8 or REC709?
    Are there scopes in REDCINE?
Has anyone done the math on how much we can scale up from 4K to 1080P before the app starts to interpolate pixels from info it doesn't have?

Amazing how feature rich this tool already is! I love the UI, very intuitive.

    Some feature requests.

    1) Some option on which monitor to run the app. I'm on a MacBook Pro currently and I am using an external display as main screen.

    2) Put the De-bayering in a separate thread. The MacBook Pro at 2,4GHz is quite slow at rendering and it would be good to be able to scrub freely on the time line and not freeze the UI while RedCine renders the first un-cached frame it hits. When it is rendering and I start scrubbing again, cancel the current render and start rendering the frame at the new current position.

    3) Some spinning icon at top right (or somewhere convenient) to indicate RedCine is rendering.

There a many scaling options.. the scale of the file read..(debayer) The scale of which you view.. and the scale of the Project.

So it just loaded up native size.. swipe top of frame and select FIT

Nope.. missing the icon here also

    2.2 apparently

    Nope. Histogram.. (next to fit)

Scale down from 4k to 1080 surely? :-/

I'd only really do a centre cutout. I don't think red is any different when a pixel is a pixel and if you scale up your having to sample.

Though I suppose if this is done during the debayer?

Exactly! It would be a very useful tool for getting rid of little edge nasties (the boom in shot etc) when going to 1080P (which LOADS of us are going to be doing all the time)

  8. #8 only seeing black
    Hi,

I've been playing with redcine this morning and although I can see and play the clip in the ghosted out cropped-off area - the main area where I should be seeing the image I'm working on is completely black.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong or is this a bug ?

    Thanks

    Geoff

Minor bug: when you change the viewing resolution (1:1, 1/2 or 1/4), that changes the scale of the histogram as well.
