  1. #1 What grade monitor to buy?
    Hi RedUser

long time lurking, first time posting.

What grade monitor should I buy? My budgets 10,000-20,000 USD.

BTW I work on a Mac Pro with a Black Magic Card and in Resolve and 75% is shot on the RED ONE.

    --

The backstory is I work at production company that's expanding. I started out as a editor/grader but now I'm a fulltime grader. We rent monitors for the projects now but final we have enough money to buy a monitor.

What I've been thinking about is the FSI LM-1760W or the e-Cinema DPX but I want to know what else is out there.

    Thanks.

I'd certainly recommend you take a look at the TVlogic unit. Certainly worth consideration.

Can definitely vouch for the Flanders we use a few 1770W in the studio which are essentially the same monitor just lighter and good for taking mobile. The TVlogic monitors are nice too, although haven't spent a great length of time with any of them to see what they are like.

I'm far from an expert but I tend to jump around a lot of different suites. Some shock some surprise.

EDIT: Shane you beat me to it.

:-) The quick and the dead Tim. We bought the Cinemage but assessed the TVLogic and would probably have gone with it if we hadn't bought Davio's as well (package deal). Nice screen and a great price point.

I good person to ask this question to would be a colorist on this board named jake blackstone. He seems to know what he's talking about.

good luck. Its a big decision so make sure to get as much info as you can! Plus I'm have not seen if NAB has anything new yet. See if you can get demos .

Of course you always get what you pay for.
eCinema... pm me!! Got some info you might need.

Panasonic Plasma 11-series. I'm so happy with this unit (46"). Just add a dual link hdsdi input board and you're done.

    Please, correct my written english.
I'm still learning, and I need your help.
    Thanks in advance.

Sony BVML231 or a BVM 20 glass of some sort (Second hand) with Dual 4:4:4 HDSDI inputs.

Dont muck around just buy the best and what most people use, well in Australia anyway!

Since I make my living with DI consulting and color managment for DCI and Filmout, I would say a panel that has IPS backplane, LED backlight and 8bit or better a 10bit panel.

For Apple Color an Apple Cimena 27" LED is perfect and for a DaVinchi an HP DreamColor or an LG Flatron W2420R with HDMI connection...

Of course to use them you need color management...

For just Video all the above are ok...
