So are the ATI cards still a recommended card Graeme? I keep picking up on different points about different cards but I just want to go with what your developing with. Thanks for all your efforts.

What performance should I expect for playback quicktime wrappers in FCP2 on Mac Pro 8 core ATI 1900?
Only the smallest (proxy) one plays back smoothly. When editing a large project with it, is that the best option to work in?

EDIT: Found the solution: the medium and high wrappers play back smoothly too as long as they are completely visible! When the viewer or canvas crops them off the playback will stutter... Good to know!

Even I have dual ATI X1900 XT on 8-core MacPro with FCS2 and REDCODE codec.

    NO ANY PROBLEM!!!

I am playing 4K resized footage directly in REDCINE realtime with 1/2 of high resolution.

    Excellent!!!

    Bravo RED Team and Jim!

By the way I have a lot of monitors and sometimes doing a custom combination.

Dual Apple Cinema display, Apple 30" Cinema display, Apple 20" Cinema display, Apple 15" display (discontinued) etc.

Also if I would have four 30" displays I could arrange it to play 4K (realtime).

Crazy, isn't it. :sorcerer: :clown2: :ninja:

It only really matters for REDCINE. For Mac OS X systems we advise ATI cards, for Windows we advise NVidia.

More specific details on which cards exactly will arrive in the near future. This is a beta and we haven't run tests on a wide range of graphics cards.
