    Hello,

Can anyone with an Epic tell me if the sound level of the Epic, while shooting and in standby mode, make the same or less noise (audio) than the RED ONE?

    Thanks

It only depends of the level of the fan settings... ;)

It can be set to Auto, or manual, in any percentages for each, up to 100%.

It can be set to off while recording as well, so absolute silent... ;)

    Thanks Ketch,

Is it equal or better to the RED One?
In an other forum there where mention to switch off some power consuming features that also leads to heat wich could affect the fan level. For exemple if the downscaling to 1080 is turned off there would be less processing involved and therefore less heat...

Don't know if this path has been followed by RED.

Only a few people had sound noise issue with the RED one, I am one of them, so I just was hoping it could really be silent. SSD drives will surely improve the high frequencies noise of the spinning hard drives.

    Patrick,

with Epic when you need quite you simply set it to the lowest possible allowed by outside temperatures, and or set it to "0" OFF,
when recording, and to higher or 100% to col off the camera when in stand by.

You can control the settings for both record and stand by mode manually in any increments form off to 100.
