Hi, In looking for affordable lens solutions for my Red (won't be here for a while yet), I purchased a set of Lomo Primes, and a 20-120 zoom. I spent a lot of time doing research, and making connections with people in Russia, the Ukraine, and other former soviet republics.
My primes are from the early '90s, and T-2.2s with the exception of the 18mm and 100mm witch are T-3. The lens barrels are all the same size, focus gear in the same spot, same front diameter (about 87mm). These lenses are kind of rare. They were usually paired with the 35mm "Studio" cameras. Much more common are the same lenses in a different housing that came with the MOS "location" cameras. These lenses had a ring with finger divits instead of gears, and smaller lighter weight housings. As I said, the glass however is exactly the same as the studio versions.
I have purchased a few of the lenses in the "Location" housings to use as tests to put 32 pitch gears, and PL mounts on. Depending on how this goes, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying any.
Most common focal lengths are 18mm t-3.1 35mm t-2.2 50mm t-2.2 75mm t-2.2 and 100mm t-3.1.
Also out there are 22mm, 28mm 150mm 200mm and 300mm. There is also a set of "fast" lenses that are around t-1.4 that are very rare.
I have a good source of PL mounts for these lenses and a little machine shop that I use to make brackets and lens gears and such. To make it worth my time and effort, I was thinking that I could sell a set of 4 lenses (just hypothetically, 18,35,50,75) for between $3500 and $4000.
If you happen to come across a set of Lomos in Pl mount, I reccomend you snap them up, they are a great low cost cine lens.
Cheers,
Nick
