Just wondering which card is best for scratch, there both around $750, the gtx 590 or the quadro 4000
the gtx card has alot more cudas, not sure if scratch uses cudas.

Would prefer the gtx for the benefits of premiere but need good performance in scratch to.

    Thanks

Scratch use CUDA. x000 cards are officially tested/recommended. GTX are not.

for the 10-bit per color support, you'll have to choose the Quadro.
10-bit is also known as 30-bit color and DeepColor.

Yes, The Quadro 4000 has less performance, but its driver is optimized for professional applications.
Though, I'm not sure if Scratch specifically is optimized on the Quadro driver.

My recontamination is the Quadro 4000, and this is from personal experience working with both Quadro & GeForce cards with Scratch. The 590 may have more raw power on the GPU, but the Quadro 4000 is certified by Assimilate (so you have support), and will be a smoother performer for Scratch, which depends on the specific GL & Cuda capabilities of the Quadro series.

John said it perfectly. Although the GTX are great cards, we test and optimise the Quadro cards and are therefore able to support them.

There are many reasons for our choice of Quadro over GTX, such as precision rendering, but the main one is the quality of the drivers.

    I hope this helps.

The Quadro board isn't going to really offer any additional improvements in terms of speed, etc. The Quadro 4000 is a single slot solution that only requires a single 6-pin power connector and at 142w draws considerably less power than either of the GTX cards. If available slots or power is a concern then thats something to consider, as is the fact that neither the GTX 570 or GTX 580 are currently officially Adobe supported solutions. (Although it seems that many users have been successfully using them since they became available.)

The Quadro will allow you to output a 10-bit color format, but it doen't sound like you are working with any formats that are really going to take advantage of that capability. If the source format doesn't already contain 30-36bits of color data than outputing a 30-bit image will not provide additional quality since the additional color data just doesn't exist.

and If your program doesn't support dual GPU, there is no point in using GTX590 as well, just stick with 580.
I've tried 4000 vs GTX580. mainly using afterFX. there was 0 difference in rendering without effects. when I applied some effects GTX was faster about %10
    results: returned quadro4000.
