So this isn't really a "which is better" topic, it's more of a "me asking for help" topic, since I have a set of Nikon's already, and I'm debating if I should even bother dropping another 10k on a lens or just use what I have for now and invest in a couple more Nikons for a total of like $1400?

Right now I'm to the point of make or break, either get the zoom and not be able to get some accessories, or stick with my Nikons and invest in monitors/cart/and whatever I can think of for support (on top of what I have included in my package already, which would be the basics: matte box/FF/raid drive/CF card reader/cards/base package). If my pockets were lined were cash I would gladly put down for a set of SuperSpeeds, but alas, I am not a rich man. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! (even if it has been repeated already in another forum)

    Cheers,

I say go with what you have now.. The zoom lens will always be there after you get a little more cash. Rent PL lenses when you need them and let the client pay.

And the superspeeds will always be there after you get a lot more cash.

Greg, there will be no Nikon mount from Red until the beginning of 2008 it seems. I don't think this affects you because of your serial # but for those who will be getting there cameras soon it does have an impact. There was talk in another thread about a 3rd party Nikon adapter but I think the issue is that everyone is waiting to see what Red has done with the new mount. So not sure how that will impact things like the Birger and Nikon mounts.

awesome, thanks for the help guys! I was leaning towards having clients rent the lenses, then I got caught up in all the excitement of getting shiny new toys, haha.
