  1. #1 Best way of accelerating Storm
I have a 2008 (or 2009?) [MacPro3,1] with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 and I'm wondering whether adding a higher powered graphics card would help speed things up. It would be nice if it sped up other things such as Nuke or Resolve...
Would a Quadro 4000 be a good idea? What kind of boost could I expect from it?

    Many thanks

    Hi Jean,

What part of Storm are you trying to speed up? Export? Playback? etc How much RAM do you have?

    Kind Regards,

I'm having similar problems with Storm - I've tried it twice now and find it too slow to use, particularly compared to Recine-X which responds fairly swiftly. Is RAM the key here?

Hi Mark, Sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues. Where are you experiencing the speed problems? Is it with export or playback in the viewer? RAM is an important factor and we recommend 6GB. How much RAM do you have?

Hi Jean, it depends on what you want to speed up. The effects work in realtime and require no rendering. The Export will run as fast as your processor will allow, unless you have a RED Rocket as Gunleik mentions.

    thanks,
    Dan
