Having an issue with one of our Rockets and/or G5..
It was running fine and had current firmware and drivers. It was living fine in the x16 slot just above our ATI Radeon 2600 and below the Atto H60F. Running RCX 454. The computer was moved from one place to another. Now we have troubles.
To start, the system sees the rocket in the system profile.
    Then launch Redcine-X
It sees the Rocket, hilighted orange in the Viewer window.
When trying to play an R3D, the Viewer is blacked out and eventually RCX freezes.

After swapping the placement and putting the Rocket in the x4 slot, it sees it in the system, but can't use it in RedCine-X. And putting the ATTO card in the x16 slot it is showing up just fine, where the RR was having trouble.

Then we try to use our second backup Rocket:
Tried a new Rocket card in the same x16 PCI slot, but it couldn't read the card sometimes, sometimes could, but would say need to install driver/firmware.
Upon trying to install, Terminal says Could not Enter Card, had to shut down.

What's the problem? Is it the PCI slot or the RedRocket? What else can be tested? I'm trying to find someone elses G5 to test install there.

I hope this makes sense as I write this in the middle of the night.
All your help is very appreciated!

You don't have a G5, you have a Mac Pro with an Intel Xeon processor.

As to the rest, I don't know, but I'd love to see the answer myself.

    I have the same problem.
The card worked fine on a 16x slot, it start to have problem when I have update the new firmware/driver (1.1.14.38 and 1.4.7.0). Now I can't see the card on slot 2 (16 x) but only on slot 3/4 (4x). When I launch Redcine x (build 454), whit the card on slot 3 or 4, it recognize the card but the message told me that I can't use it cause the pci is to slow.
when is on slot 2 on system profile I can't see the card and redcine x don't see any card
I tried to install on slot 1 moving the video card on slot 2 but the result is the same; no card visible on PCI 16x
    My config. is:
    OS 10.6.7 - MacPro4,1 - Quad-Core Intel Xeon 1x2.66 GHz, 10gb ram
    any suggestion will be appreciate

Just curious. Since you started having problems with the new firmware/driver (1.1.14.38 and 1.4.7.0), wouldn't it make sense to roll them back and test the system that way? Is it even possible?

I was able to reset the card by setting the card to safe mode, per my RED tech support's instructions (just a flip of a switch).
Then reinstalling and things ended up working out. I am back up and running with the RR in slot 2.
@Jake, yea I might try rolling back to v1.4.5.1 which also is compatible with EPIC footage with our second card which looks like it's acting up with the new firmware/drivers.

Same thing happened to me and the card was replaced under warranty. I was told by my Davinci reseller to put the card in the expansion box instead of macpro pcie slot. Will try as soon as we got the card back...
