    Hi

What is the recommended PC system to play back a 1K Redcode RAW Quicktime in real time? Meaning no dropped frames or stops during playback.

Does it play in Redcine as good as in Quicktime?

    Is a 2Ghz Quad-Core better than a 3Ghz Dual-Core?

What graphic card is recommended? How much RAM is needed?

We are still optimizing code and figuring these things out. However, it's hard to say without additional testing which cpu would perform better (also depends on what kind of quality you want), but for final render my guess is the quad-core.

For OS X we advice the ATI card (in the mac pro) and for Windows one of the modern NVidia cards. Maximum memory REDCINE can use is 3 GB (so you need to have 4) for things like caching frames it's already decompressed. At least 2 GB would be my recommendation.

Let me ask this way: What are the minimum requirements to watch Red footage in Redcine with a 25fps playback speed?

    I'm getting ~18fps on a Core2Duo@2.4Ghz with a 0+1 SATA RAID and 2GB RAM.

    1/4 high and medium quality.

With a virus scanner and firewall and maybe an email client running in the background.
