I know you're after first hand experience, but just to get the ball rolling:

There's also an article in Digital Media World regarding a film called Exit by Marek Polgar. Can't find any online writeups though but here's the website:

Thanks for the reply Dan. I had read the article on The Foundry's site. I will try to find the Digital Media World article.
I'm really interested in RED users firsthand experience with this app and especially people have made it an important part of their workflow rather than just tinker with it. Anyone out there?
I own a small visual effects and animation studio in Canada and I've been using Storm since the alpha stages of it's development, and through out it's life as it's matured to it's current version. My first real world experience with it was on set while working on a feature in British Columbia. At that stage I mostly used it to review footage, and confirm that everything was working correctly. Even during those alpha stages the app functioned very well, (not without some bugs, but to be expected at that point in it's life).
Fast forward to present day. I continue to use Storm on set, but a more interestingly, we now use it back in the studio to do our DPX pulls for our visual effects work. To ensure that the color telemetry between us and Deluxe were spot on we went through extensive testing comparing the footage that came from Deluxe's system, and the footage that came from our shop, and like we expected, everything matched up perfectly. This ability to do our own vfx pulls have streamlined much of the process between us and Deluxe, allowing us to extract higher resolution DPX sequences when needed without having to incur the cost of having the lab do it for us. With the ability to import XML files, our pulls are also frame accurate to what the editor in France have been sending us. All in all, it's a great system, and gives us much more freedom then we have had in the past.
I am a fan of Storm!
cheers
Colin
Colin, thanks for sharing. That's exactly the type of feedback I was looking for.
Well, I understand that the organizational features in Storm work well with Final Cut Pro 7, but do you have any experience with how well it works with Premiere? Can the bin structure and tags/notes be passed through to Premiere? Also, can looks be created in Storm, passed to Premiere and then ultimately on to Resolve?
Also, how powerful are the color correction features? Do you expect anyone to use it to conform and finish in, either in its current incarnation or a future release?
Right now I'm considering a Storm, Premiere, Resolve workflow with Nuke for compositing.

- Sorry, I don't have a ton of experience using Storm in conjunction with Premiere, but with the way FCP is going, I should test this out.
- I believe the metadata should move along into Premiere, but I would need someone from The Foundry to confirm this.

- I believe that it has the potential to do just that, but in it's current form, I don't think it would be the best conform tool, as it only currently supports Red footage. With that said, I know that there will be support for other codecs and camera formats down the road, but right now, it's not there.

- So far I have used everything in your list, with the exception of Premiere (currently using FCP), and the workflow is quite nice.
Hope this helps.
Colin
