    Is there any professional film sound magazine like American Cinematography that you would recommend?

    Not sure of anything dedicated to location sound but try looking at Mix, Sound on Sound, EQ, Audio Media for starters.

    Cofey Sound in L. A. has a great professional newsletter that I read. It's free. You can read or download off their site.

    I forgot IATSE Local 695 (the LA sound mixers' union), which also publishes a magazine you can read online:

    There's some really, really informative pieces in there, courtesy of regular contributors David Waelder, Eric Pierce, and Richard Lightstone. Also good is the Cinema Audio Society's newsletter:
