HI guys, for those of you that know me well, and that have asked many times before for me to do this type of tests, this will come as a surprise... ;)

But only till you read on... a little longer.

I never do such comparison tests, as I find them really silly, why? Because there is nothing to compare!!

RED EPIC is one camera, and ARRI ALEXA is an other, completely different form each other that there should never be on the same room together, same as I believe with a 5D or 7D,
for both comparison against a Red camera, and or as many have tried to compare them to Medium format cameras, such as Hasselblad, or now Leica S2, all I say is PLEASEEEE,
get a life and get the camera you what and go do your projects with what you can afford best, and give your images a chance to stand the proof of time.. ;)

I have decided to make sure I use the absolute best modern technology has to offer me so that I can use this tools to engrave my stories in the Stone of time,
insuring at list a better chance for my Films to be seen many many years from now, in their full 4K glory.

    So why this test??

Well because I love ARRI, and I love ALEXA, but it should not be used as a Cinema Camera IMO, so for this I jumped at the opportunity to show off our EPIC to a production company from Warsaw Poland,
were I flew with my Back pack this last weekend to do a Real World Field test, head to head, well almost, as you will see for some of the pics in the full gallery, we also did many HDRx shoots, were of course Alexa was just waiting there, as well as when we shot 5K 120fps, and 2k 300fps... ;)

Of course only the very best lenses in the world were used, ARRI MASTER PRIMES... ;)

I wil continue to offer such service at a reduce fee, just to insure that my fellow Filmmakers make the right decision when choosing their next camera, for their Movies.

The crew in Warsaw, were absolutely FANTASTIC, and for this I must say... THANK YOU FOR CALLING UPON ME AND OUR RED EPIC, and THANK YOU for the incredibly friendly and most warm
welcome you give me, we'll look forward to come back soon, no matter what the final decision will be in using EPIC or not for your Movie, but I have a filling we'll see you again... ;)

Camera test: RED EPIC, ARRI ALEXA

    EDIT:

    Okay... It's OFFICIAL...

EPIC was Chosen by the Poland Crew over the Alexa... ;)

Some frame grabs of what it was shot and some of the DP's comments hopefully to be posted soon... ;)

It was again such a great experience been there with such a professional crew, which did not looked at expenses when doing this test for their upcoming Big Budget film,
that is the way it should be done, congrats RED!!

Hey Ketch, is this an internal test? or will you eventually release your results? (either way, I prefer RED for what I do) Both are spectacular cameras. I would be interested to see.

Yes this is an internal test, and if you see al the pics, the few I tucked while busy setting up the camera, you see that this was a serious production test for a BIG movie which will start Principal photography October/November,
screening next week, and then I will release any info that I will be allowed to with great pleasure, either decision the Director makes, but we already knew He is Bias towards Alexa, for this I excepted with pleasure this challenge, well, what challenge?? ... ;)

He he, trying to Anthony, you know how much time I had to spend locked up in side my place in Cali, so now is time to go out and play... HARD!!!

Yes they did not skimp on cost for this test, and this was the reason why I excepted to take a bitting on the tight travel schedule,
I have with other projects here in Italy, but well worth... ;)
