This is indeed excellent news. Very much looking forward to decisions that will need to be made in the near future because one way or another...I'm getting a gorgeous new RED product :-)

Ordered an Epic M today. Wish I had done it months ago, but I probably would not have made the cut. On the subject of back orders, the EVF and Red Volts are late and possibly the handle/grip and red mote as well, or so I was informed today when purchasing.

Umm, so what good is an Epic M without a Redmote?

It seems the whole delivery schedule of basic camera components like EVFs, batteries and the grip (which is so much a part of the whole DSMC system concept) is so... well... out of whack. Especially given the earthquake/tsunami delays. It would seem production runs of those components could have been in place while waiting for camera components. Or were those components impacted by the tsunami as well?

How is it that Epic M's are readily available when Epic X can't ship because of missing components? I know M owners are paying a premium and that offsets come of the component costs but...

I mean, I'm excited about the idea of Epic X shipments happening in September, and thrilled with the mount and SSD upgrades, but will we have red motes and batteries for the pro battery module when the camera ships? Will the Pro I/O module be available when the camera ships? (I've asked as have others, but no reply). Will the handgrip be shipping and in stock by September?

I'd really like to buy the accessories that will make a complete camera package when my Stage 2 camera ships, but I really have no visibility into the availability.

    Can someone clarify please?

    Thanks!

I just hope this also means that SCARLET-F will be released this year. I really don't care if the price goes up after new year - I just want the damn camera now! Haha! :D

This is like saying, "What good is a Ferrari without a sunroof."

I spent months shooting on the Epic M without the Redmote. And I racked up mountains of sick footage.

So how did you control the camera? With a hand grip?

    Mark,

The touchscreen and the side handle both work quite well, I've got my Redmote, it's cool, but not necessary IMHO

OK Fair enough. But my post was a question about availability of key components that were advertised as shipping as a kit. Stage 2 Epics are supposed to ship with a Redmote and batts, so when I see a post that suggests that they are back ordered when we are just at the "M stage" I get nervous. With potentially hundreds/thousands of cameras shipping soon, that doesn't bode well for availability.

I just want a complete kit. Seems like a fair request when we've been waiting so long.
