What is everyone using for a case for their Epic? I know many probably have the RED Pelican case. Anyone have pictures?
My bigger question is the foam. After seeing the Epic in person and feeling the weight, the standard foam that comes with Pelican cases doesn't seem like it would hold up. Do these cases use the harder form inside?

The foam inside the EPIC-M case is dense and anti-static. It's a great product, not sure if Pelican is doing it for RED or if RED is handling it themselves, sourcing it elsewhere, etc.. I would not trust the pick-n-pluck crap foam for this sort of thing, not for any camera case really. That stuff always breaks down, doesn't support a huge amount of weight, has static cling, and it likes to make crumbs and leave bits on your gear.

Anwyway, that said, I would love to make a few changes to the foam inside the M case. Would be nice to have the spot for the camera just a bit deeper or with just a touch more clearance on top. So I could leave the thin QR mounting plate on the Brain. There are times I'm tempted to cut a notch so I can leave an SSD in the camera... That probably doesn't make that much sense really, so I haven't done it. I wish they gave us slots to put at least 2 more SSDs in the case instead of just the 4. I own 6 and will have 8 soon.

The case is a wonderful size and I love that it's FAA carry-on friendly. But I have only jumped on a plane with my M in my big Tamrac backpack. I can put more gear in that backpack plus a Macbook Pro, so it's a lot more usable than the wonderful, but limited, EPIC-M case. A couple other M owners I know have pulled the included foam out and have re-made their own to fit the accessories they want. But overall space is limited in the case. Once we get the REDVOLTS and travel charger in there, it's not like we have much more room except maybe for another couple SSDs.

Yeah I'm thinking of getting a custom foam job...sound dirty...

I personally prefer Storm cases over Pelican. Build quality seems the same but I like Storm latches better.

My only piece of advice, that Jeff already stated... stay away from pick and pluck. Always.

When traveling I prefer to use a big camera back pack. The camera is not as secure or protected as it is in the pelican case, but I never let it out of my sight. I won't check my camera, too many lost bag episodes, I need to be sure it arrives when I do. So what the back pack lacks in padding I make up for in babying and hand carrying.

My A&J case (on the way) is a redux of my Red One case. With room in the cutout for future modules, and wearing a bridgeplate and dovetail, the Epic fits neatly in the same cutout as the Red One did.
I replaced the cutouts for the Red Drives with different cutouts for the Redvolts/ chargers and the side handle, and left the accessory compartment with removable dividers as is. EVF compartment holds either the original or Bomb.
18" dovetail and long 19mm rods are accommodated as well.
If you are interested please contact my good friend Steven Zuch at stevenzuch.com
He is my case guy and gets very favorable pricing from A&J, Innerspace, and others (cheaper than if you went direct)
Case drawing would be attached but it's a whopping 48 kb and that exceeds the file size for attachments.
    REALLY JARRED???
Anyway, if someone would like the pdf, PM me and I will find a way to send it...
    Cheers,
    Harry

If/ when I travel with my Scarlet I will carry the body and some accessories on with me in a camera bag. Then, if I need to bring other camera rig stuff I will pack that in my storm case, tripod case, and will check that on. I would NEVER trust or could I handle the thought of letting any camera body go on its own! I nearly have a panic attack when my regular baggage gets delayed, etc.!
