I haven't been able to test the New Panchros /i and I would like to hear what do you guys think about them. Also Cooke compared them with the S4. I would love to hear if any of you have compared them with the Ultraprimes.

    I've used ultras, Love em.

Stop Faster than panchros, but double the price, and more in line with Zeiss Look. The panchros compare with S4's because they are a dead match. I mean literally. Sharpness, contrast, color, Iris rendition, Flare, everything.... IF you like S4's but cant afford them yet...... Panchros. IF you like Master Primes but cant afford them.... Ultras.

I'm gonna second what Timur said. I use both sets quite often, but I actually prefer the Panchros now... go figure :)

I like the Cooke look and if you can afford Ultras you might as well rent some S4's if you're into Cooke. Problem I have with Panchros is the 2.8. I often find myself shooting below a 2.8 for small locations or night exteriors. A 2.0 can get me a soft enough background for those tight spaces where a 2.8 sometimes sharpens it up too much for my tastes. So if UP's and Panchros are your choice, decide on the look and then look at the parameters of the shoot. Sometimes to take the clinical look out of the UP's I'll use 1/2 SFX.
