Is it only Canon and Sigma lenses that are programmed and supported for the Canon mount, or is it possible that a lens like the new, and as yet unavailable, Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD might be programmed and fully supported? The improved algorithms in 3.0.6 make auto focus an even more useful feature and something to consider when buying lenses.
I received my Canon mount yesterday and I have to say it's so awesome. It took me two minutes to install the mount on the Epic and I started shooting immediately. I can't believe I waited this long. And yes I know I'm a little late to the game but the possibilities for filmmakers with this mount is quite unbelievable. having the lenses pre-programmed and being able to see my depth of field on the monitor is so incredible. I used the Red One with the Birger mount for years so I'm just here to celebrate. Anyways 5k is a dream come true now. Thank you.
lensrentals ran some quick tests, and the Tamron 24-70 comes out well ahead of the old Canon 24-70 in every focus test:

I've seen some other tests where edge focus was much better on the Tamron than the existing Canon.
The image stabilization works quite well, here are some comparisons to the existing Canon 24-70:

This lens would be great to have for RED Canon mount users.
RED would benefit as the sharper images, and clearer stabilized images, would show off the capabilities of RED's sensor and R3D algorithms for user posted videos.

Roll back to release firmware. You are on a shoot far far away (nalu). And your on beta.....
There has been some talk of a few lenses that did work that are now playing up.
So are you still getting some waves.
Cheers! Chris
