Jarred!
Have you tried doing stereo with two Epics with Canon lenses slaved to one REDMOTE? Do they stay in sync? Any way to compensate for drift or lens discrepancies with REDMOTE / REDMOTE PRO (or some kind of protocol that is open to 3rd parties?).
Or better for us to wait for Red Electronic lenses?
To me either Canon, Nikon or Red Electronic lenses sounds like the low-cost, lightweight high quality stereo dream system IF they work without too many glitches.
Of course you'd still need a zoom controller, but having synced Focus and Iris taken care of eliminates a ton of motors, weight and expense...?

Sounds great !
So, how do you check the backfocus of the canon mount ? Most of the collimators are PL only...
Jarred, this is great news, are there any Sigma brand lenses profiled as of yet?
Thanks
That looks absolutely awesome.
Can't wait to get my hands on one!
This is very exciting, I never thought I would even concider using still glass with my Epic, but with something like this and the ability to keep the rig very light, not to mention the affordable lenses available.... yes this is very exciting!
Lets say check of back focus is needed (I would like to think that every mount change procedure will include a back focus check but leave it for now), how do we do it? Do we need to buy a Red Focus with Canon mount? Will there be an adapter to the Red Focus I have already have in PL mount? or is there any other way of checking the back focus?
One thing I'm not clear on, I know you can control iris, but does it do autoiris now? If not, in the future?
(Not critical out of the gate, just askin')
