Everything you wanted to know about the EPIC Canon Mount

Jarred, if you're listening...

I am curious about the Canon 70-200 f/4L IS. I see that the non-IS version is supported but not this particular lens. Is it safe to assume that this would work, too. Or, is there something about the IS that might cause problems. Meanwhile, both of the IS versions of the 70-200 f/2.8 are supported. Hmmm....

I remember you saying that , which is definitely a big reason I am considering it. But, it costs about twice as much as the f/4.

Can I assume, from your answer, that the f/4 IS hasn't been tested and approved?

It's so worth waiting a little longer for. A much better lens.

f/4 is still a few months out.. it is a great lens, nice and sharp, but the breathing is pretty bad so its a bit lower on the list.

70-200 f/2.8 IS II is my favorite all-around lens. Have you tried the new 300 f/2.8 IS II? This is a fantastic lens, even with 1.4x/2x extender extremely sharp

Jarred, is it possible to "force" Canon lenses' aperture to perform as smooth as the Nikon lens aperture in your recent vid?

Or Canon glass owners will always have to deal with "clicks" because the lens motor won't allow that?

In the store, only titanium Canon and PL mounts are listed as ala carte mounts, and on the Epic X (brain only) page, the only mount options listed are for those two titanium mounts. Is it possible to buy the aluminum Canon ala carte and use it with Epic?

Any piece for the Scarlet will work with the EPIC and vice versa. The reason why you can't buy a Aluminum Canon Mount "ala carte" is because RED wishes to fill all orders for the Scarlet/Al Canon mount first...
