I'm saying, it is working on my ET 19 and 15mm bridge plates as a serviceable riser (add one layer of gaff tape between the bridge plate and Manfrotto), to perfect the height) which allows me to use my Redrock mattebox and O'Connor follow focus without having to invest in whole new plates systems to achieve the right height.

I'm only suggesting it as an inexpensive solution until more options are released. To avoid the cycle of buying something in the early innings, then wishing I had waited. This solution, for about $50, lets me wait and still use all of my original RED ONE accessories. I spent $900 on each of these plates, and I'm not ready to retire or replace them yet. So I guess the answer is yes, that is what I'm saying...at least in regards to using those accessories. I can't speak to others. Your mileage may vary.

Thank you Meryem, sounds like a possible interim solution until the dust settles. I agree with the need to find simple solutions which work with existing and widespread equipment. I believe Viewfactor and Actionproducts also make a shim plate which remains somewhat affordable ($250).

If you want a more affordable riser with a variety of hole spacings, we will have something for you Monday on our site. Riser, 15mm LW bracket, top and side handles, and something else that is a must for NATO users.

Does the Red mounting plate for Epic with quick release system nullify the need for a shim plate? Currently on backorder at ET/3ality for a shim plate but would love to consolidate to one solution...

maybe that was Red's thinking when designing the Epic a bit short...?

You might want to check again. The shim plate lists as available on the website.

it says available, but maybe we bought at the wrong time, ours is definitely back-ordered.

My question was resolved by Jeff Kilgroe, who informed me that yes, the QR system does situate the Epic to the correct height and we therefore do NOT need an Epic Shim plate in addition to the Epic mounting plate and QR system.

Which makes sense. I realized that this was probably Red's intent from the beginning... I wish it were a little more clear, but I'm glad to have a solid answer now.

Here is Brook/Viewfactor's FMJ riser pate with an original Red 15mm Arri studio bridgeplate...

I thnk the original base is still the best, most secure mounting option. I think the extra weight is a good thing in a studio config.

The new Red QR system is really slick but not yet compatile with the LA 15mm offset dogma.

As for the botom of the X bing different, nothings been mentined that I know of.
