    Hi,

I have been using my Birger mount on my R1 now for sometime and it has been great, however more and more I am finding clients that want to use PL lenses instead. Yet I still get a fair amount of work using the Canon lenses, too.

Does Birger make a PL mount that would be able to be swapped out without having to revert back to the original R1 PL mount?

Yes, Birger has a PL-mount. To install it, one needs to remove the front most part of the Canon mount and replace that with the PL adapter.

Do you need to reset your backfocus everytime you swap between Canon and Red glass?
    Thanks

For you Birger users, what functionality can I expect out of a Canon lens? Will the auto focus or image stableization be functional? Just installing one now.

    Thanks

Robert, yes, if you want to distance marks to hold you should collimate when swap between the Birger Canon and PL mounts. With Canon lenses the image stabilization does work but auto focus doesn't. The auto focus required such functionality from the camera.

Thanks Lauri. I got it installed and up and running. It seems the coll holds when I flip between the two which is what Erik mentioned. I am going to keep an eye on it though as I can see that it can move when you loosen the 4 shoulder bolts. Do you use the Impero?

    Cheers!

Robert, I don't use the Birger mount anymore as have now Epic-X. It is important to power down the camera when switching between the Birger Canon and PL mount. In addition, guess better to be careful in supporting big and heavy PL lenses properly when attaching them to the Birger PL mount.
