Recently I was involved in a little low budget affair. I was a thesis project for a design student, kind of a fashion movie for an independent clothing line..
She developed the concept together with the DoP. Then I came on board as an editor and VFX supervisor and added a little sci-fi twist to the concept.

Shot on Red One MX with red primes in 3k 50p for the most part.
    Edited in Premiere.
Conformed, pregraded and converted to EXR with Redcine X.
All the effects work and final grading done in After Effects.
CG elements modeled and rendered in 3dsmax.

    Here's the final short film:

And here's the VFX making of:

    Director: Marissa Maghavipata
    Cinematoghraphy: Stefan Preilowski
    Music: Georg Rohbeck
    Sound Design: Tilman Hahn
Editing & Visual Effects: Benni Diez

It was a great experience, mainly because it was not for commercial purpose and therefore there were no creative restrictions.
When everyone gives their best, although there's no budget and no profit to gain from a project, there's a truly special feeling when all comes together in the end, that you rarely have on regular jobs.

Why do Red Primes have such a bad name (based on many of this site's posts) when this footage looks beautiful and stunning.

well, they don't seem to have as unique a look as some of the high end traditional cinema lenses. that being said, they are fast, sharp and pristine, and that's what you want for an effects-heavy project like this.

    Benni - Looks amazing man.

And yes, I may be new to the Red User community, but I love my RPP lenses. I think they do the job just fine.

    Keep shooting!
