    Hey guys,

As you all know, RED updated the design of the top of the Epic camera body with the introduction of the Epic-X. The new design is a very cool [and welcomed] improvement which adds more mounting points to the top of the camera. All Epic-M owners will receive this new updated top when they send their bodies in for the new lightweight heat sink.

This of course means that all original FMJ-Top plates designed for the Epic-M will not fit the Epic-X.

Over the past few years RED has been immensely generous in offering unbelievable upgrade programs to their existing customers. The Epic body and heat sink upgrade is no different - they are once again giving their hottest new upgrades to their customers for free. We decided to take a page out of RED's own book.

All Epic-M FMJ-Top owners are eligible for a free upgrade to the new Epic-X FMJ-Top.

All other parts - the FMJ-Bottom, sidearms and Stealth Plate - will work perfectly on the Epic-X. If you've already purchased a full FMJ kit, for example, you need only to exchange the FMJ-Top and all of your existing parts will fit.

Since the Epic-M upgrade program hasn't started yet, Epic-M FMJ owners should hang on to their plates. Make the swap when you send your camera to RED for the body update. I'll roll out the final details of the program shortly.

I'm really excited about the new body design and top plates... they're sleeker, sturdier and mount to the camera in a much stronger way. As always, the new plates will interface with a forthcoming top plate extension for the IO module at the end of the year.

Doesn't it seem fitting that Mark gets the first top plates? :)

The updated FMJ-Top plates for the Epic-X are completed and in full production for $465. FMJ-Orders placed today should ship this week. Epic-X owners... have at it! They're ready to rock. As always, logo etching is available!

We've also changed our process for machining the Epic Stealth Plate which has allowed us to significantly cut down the machine time! Lower machine time for us means lower price for you... the Epic Stealth Plate is now $199.

The Epic Stealth Plate fits both the Epic-X and Epic-M.

There is a LOT of really exciting stuff just around the corner. I'll put some announcement threads up this week. We've been listening... trust me. :)

    Thank you Brook,

This is extremely generous and unexpected as making money in a small specialty business is hard going.

    I really appreciate it.

I'm completely happy with current top plate, and will be ordering the an additional plate for my X when it ships.

You folks are doing great work.

    A happy loyal customer,

    Steve

Very generous indeed...thanks Brook. How far away is your new side rails that dont require the bottom plate? I plan to use RED assault pack with FMJ in that configuration.
    cheers!
