  1. #1 hdsdi over triax
Can I send an HD-SDI signal from my camera (with a converter for the connectors) over triax? I am using a tricaster switcher and i need to do longer runs than an HD SDI cable will allow...and thought maybe the triax will let me go further.

I don't see why not, but Red could confirm that, especially Stuart English.

Why don't you convert it to fiber? BlackMagic & AJA both have SDI over fiber solutions...

This solution lets you control from up to 28 miles away.

The cable itself might not be as robust, but I'd imagine that converting to triax would reduce quality from 2 signal converters. From what I understand about the SDI over Fiber, it's the same bits over the cable, just a change of the medium they're transferred across.

The HS-SDI signal on EPIC is to SMPTE spec, so as long as you can accept true progressive 1080p / 23.98 or 29.97 ( v's PsF which we don't support) all existing options should work..

I'm trying to avoid the fiber option if possible because it is so much more expensive. It's $1000 just for the converters from hdsdi to fiber and then back again.

Except that the image will need to be scaled on the other end to fill the whole frame of the 16 x 9 monitor without black borders, correct?
