    Berlin, October 10th, 2011

Today, in a European first, Berlin based OMSTUDIOS introduce a powerful new drone that
enables filmmakers to combine the performance of the world’s finest digital camera, the
RED Epic with the versatility of an octocopter. In doing so, the OM-Copter opens up a
whole new world of cineastic possibilities while simultaneously lowering the costs of production
    remarkably.
Since it’s release in September 2011, the RED Epic is known as the pinnacle of digital camera
design. With a resolution of 5K, a dynamic range of up to 18 stops and a hightech processor
enabling up to 350 frames per second, the RED Epic is without a doubt the world’s
most advanced camera. Not only among camera connoisseurs, but also among the largest
big-budget hollywood productions, the RED Epic established itself as the definite standard:
directing legends such as Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson and James Cameron are trusting this
state-of-theart technology for their current feature films “Prometheus”, “The Hobbit” and
“Avatar 2” by placing dozens of orders.
The Berlin based OMSTUDIOS, which made a name for themselves with international productions
for brands such as Lamborghini, Bugatti and Audi, used their seasoned expertise
in order to improve this exceptional camera even further. The all-new OM-Copter allows to
raise the RED Epic to lofty heights without the limits of a crane or the prohibitive costs of
an actual helicopter. As an intuitively remote-controlled drone, the OM-Copter makes spectacular
shots at the highest quality and at a fraction of the previous costs possible.
The OM-Copter is ready for take-off within just 15 minutes and can reach heights of up
to 150 meters. The reach of the drone is analogous to the range of sight of the operator,
usually up to 100 meters. The OM-Copter is also usable in closed quarters and it’s extreme
    agility makes it very adaptable.
»We’re very happy to be able to provide our clients and partners with a tool that really lives
up to the vast potential of the RED Epic. We believe that we are about to reach a new level
in the production of motion pictures - not only regarding the quality, but also the economic
feasibility.« says Timor Kardum, VFX-CEO of OMSTUDIOS concerning the release of the
    OM-Copter.

There is alot of remote helicopters out there at the moment... Is this one more special than others? just asking.

What Im interested in seeing is shots from it that are really unique, so much so that I will want to rent it... you....

All the shots on your demo I could do hand held or on a small jib arm.. @ 120 fps , Do you have any shots that you can share that can only be done by that rig...

Just a question.... for me to justify to a client that this is a great tool for a particular job, fast , easy and cheap... I will need to see actual creative benefits.

If you have a montage reel of such shots, I'd love to see it.

    Cheers..

Mark, sent you a PM with links from a recent shoot with the Epic on an r/c helicopter with the guys from SnapRoll Media. The shoot went great! We're going back for more in a couple weeks. Client is thrilled with the movements and angles we were able to get. Highly recommend Preston and Spencer (Brian too!) they do wonderful work.

Can't show them on here folks, sorry.

Oh, and no disrespect meant towards the OP.

In the helicopter community we are using the word drone to describe aircraft that can fly and loiter at altitude for many hours, ie military type craft.
I guess "model helicopter" is the best term to describe the smaller craft that are far more limited in their operation. In general they need to operate within sight of the operator and in general not above a built-up area.

Oh c'mon, yes there are others out there. Yours is great and all, but it's certainly not the first one in Europe. Just search this very forum and you'll find threads about it.

    Amazing!

I have quadcopter drone that was already flying successfully with GH2 and GoPro.

For Epic I have to double the engines to 8x.

But also waiting for Scarlet lightweight specs at Nov 3rd.

I'm impressed by the vimeo link http://www.vimeo.com/23485507 - No so impressed by the first. Using slow motion does not convince me that it's stable well piloted or will point the camera where I need it pointed for as long as I need it to.

I'm sure you guys will get the epic copter version dialed in, obviously it has lots of potential.
