Will the older 5.6" Red LCD Hoodman work on the Epic touchscreen or did Hoodman make one specifically designed for the Epic?

    Thanks!

Not really. I used my old 5.6" red specific hoodman on the EPIC screen on a commercial a few weeks ago - its a bit narrow, it fits, but not quite right, its too tight on the sides.

I would love to hear about an EPIC specific hood as well..

Not a perfect fit, but never had any complaints. I recommend it anyway, as who knows if and when an exact 5" would ever come out. Close enough for me and have been using them since March.

I have to agree that it is not perfect but it does work. In the most extreme bright environments I put a little black tape on the sides to completely block out light from leaking in there and it is fine then. Better by far then nothing which would be pretty hard to deal with in full sun.

FWIW, it's what I'm using. I tried all of the alternatives available at filmtools when I got our first Epic, and thus far the hood for the REDOne 5.6" was the closest fit.

I made this and it works very well especially in direct sunlight. I used velcro so it goes off and on easily. I'm attaching the templates in case anyone is interested in making their own. Don't laugh it works!
