  1. #1 RedcineXpro rendering greater then 2gb files to SAN
    Quick question:

Is anyone using RedcineX(any version) to render to a SAN quicktime files larger than 2gb..?

I used to use DNxHD 36 or 120 for ofline so I never noticed this didn't work for me (the files).

    thank you

    Michael L

PS it is dificult to realise it dosn't work as the files are finished and play they simply are not the correct lenght.

Is the disk you're exporting to FAT32?, if so, that may be your problem and you should try exporting to an NTSC drive/ or OSX Format

No the San will be XFS underneath and will have no FAT32 like restriction. NTSC drive?? not sure what you mean..

EDIT actual I'm guessing you mean NTFS? or HFS?

AFS would have issues to render out larger than 2GB size because of the QuickTime API used in RED SDK. Properly set up XSAN wouldn't have that problem I think. I used MetaSAN before and remember it worked.

Can you try the Quicktime (Exp) preset format? It exists for this reason.

    David....

    A little feedback:

We tried Quicktime (Exp) and at first it looked good........ BUT there was coruption on all files beyond a certian piont (3min 7sec with DNX185x)and quite a few of the files had no TC at all..

Will work arond for now but happy to feedback more if you need.
