So im currently grading away in color but a few clips are troubling me and i cant find much by searching the forums so i thought i would ask. So far i have done a few exports back to fcp for testing and the problem still remain when sent back.

The problem im having is that a few clips are not playing back anymore. I have one clip which is cut up into different shots and it just seems to be frozen on the first frame instead of it finding the TC point in the clip that its meant to start. I also have another clip which is about 20 seconds long but about half way through the video freezes but the audio continues. These problems are occuring in color as well as FCP when i render and send to it.

Anyone have any knowledge/suggestions on what i may be doing wrong?

Also just to add quickly, I have made my sequence 1920x817 but when i sent back to FCP the first time it made the sequence that size but all the clips were 4k but scaled down. I have now made a new color sequence where i selected adjust clips to the correct size etc then re-adjusted the geometry room so that the clips were full screen again. Will this hopefully send a 1920x817 sequence with 1920x817 clips now? Its just taking many many hours to render the 4k clips in FCP which is getting quite annoying.

    Thanks

Having another problem now. I collected all the clips which were freezng and made a new FCP sequence. I now click send to color but nothing happens. Color opens but a dialouge box just opens saying new project. Any idea why the clips arent working now. I tried send my original timeline as well and its doing the same thing. Have restarted the mac twice now but its not helping.

Well i just exported RC2 and redlogfilm quicktimes out of RCX and graded them individually. It's a solution but i wish i could work out why the clips froze.

There's a number of reasons why you might be getting these freezes. The most common is the spanned-clip bug, which happens if you've got a big file that ends up being multiple R3Ds. It's fixable by running the Color project file through the ColorFixer tool in Clipfinder.

Another source of clip weirdness is when timecode rolls over mid-clip. The "Midnight" bug, as it were. Unfortunately that one doesn't really have a good solution.
