  1. #1 any editor trying lightworks and r3d footage?
    hi all
i'm playing with the public beta version of lightworks, from editshare... looks really promising (and profesional)
i have some r3d footage so i was playing a little bit ... the computer that i have for testing is not too much powerfull (Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz 3.25GB RAM + Geforce 8500 GT 512 + Windows XP SP3).. i can play smooth at full resolution (obiously) but i can set differents resolution, and then LW works really nice (or looks like... i haven't too much footage for a big test)
so, any editor trying lightworks and r3d footage? opinions? pros? cons?
i think, for what i see, that is gonna be a really interesting linux solution to edit works...
    regards

    Hi Cesar,
I'm curious as well if anyone else has been using Lightworks. I've been using Lightworks for the past few weeks with a few small .r3d files and have had a lot of fun. Its obviously still in development and I know tons of features will be released soon. Not to many downsides yet, I'd rather wait till a feature full release to make an solid opinion/review.

I'm watching this closely as well. Being on the Mac platform, I await the OSX version with baited breath.

Is the .r3d native codec included in the latest beta version? I am still running an earlier version.

I believe the alpha version (one I've been testing with) has a large list of supported codecs (.r3d being one). But I'm unsure if the public beta has as many supported codecs.

I just read that Thelma Shoomacher used Lightworks to edit the current 3D film Hugo, which is quite an endorsement. Here's a link to her interview:
