I hope they release a slick Scarlet reel or some nice real world promo footage as part of the November 3rd announcement. I think that would help people who are still on the fence, even after knowing specs and price , to make up their minds instantly and definitively.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be especially nice to have it screen on their Large Screen at RSH that night as well in order to really do the footage justice for those of us that are able to attend the event.

Very much agree with you there.

Even iPhone 4S released their photos untouched to show what it can do.

There is already sample footage of SCARLET out there, but I don't believe it shows enough variety. I'm sure RED will release samples with the camera.

That would be cool - although does anyone agree that promo footage is a little... biased? Each shot would be heavily produced/graded. It makes sense to push the potential of cameras featured in promos, but more than a promo video I'd love to see some natural light amateur footage with absolutely no post on it.

Has anyone here seen the GoPro Hero2 promo video? Looks incredible. But it's a perfect example of a promo vid with a hell of a lot of work done on it, as opposed to showing the raw potential of the camera. /end verbal thought

I know what you mean, but honestly, even heavily processed...I am an End-Product kind of guy. Its all about how the image looks in the end that matters. So if I see a heavily graded, touched up piece of footage that looks spectacular, that means, if one can do it, others can too! Bring it on!

I would like to see some motion and still frames. I as a fashion/beauty photographer shooting video when needed on the 5D. I want to see something that moves me to RED Scarlet or leaves me shooting both on the new 1DX?

I think it will be cool if they have working cameras at the event so we can have real life impressions from regular people. (Meaning people who have never held or used a Scarlet before)

Scarlet is not a video camera. It shoots raw format images that have to be post processed to some extent to even view them. One can simply set a choice of color space, gamma, and white balance as a minimum without further grading, but that defeats the whole purpose of raw acquisition in the first place. Raw is made to grade. It is the range of creative possibilities in grading and post that truly sets these cameras apart.

It is one reason I dislike a lot of these comparison videos between Reds and video cameras where the Red is also treated like just another video camera. Virtually all of the settings that you have to nail on set with a video camera to get good images are just meta data in a Red clip that can be manipulated at will in post. Not using this capability to its fullest out of some misbegotten sense of "fairness" for comparison purposes misrepresents what these cameras do best.
