There is nothing we are doing unfair. We do not build the cost of providing a warranty transfer into our product. We don't induce those costs to everyone because the majority of our customers do not transfer ownership, so why should everyone pay?

The other guys may do it for free.. but they also charge $30,000 more for a camera that is 1/4 as expensive to make. Figure that one out....

Great! AppleCare is the only extended warranty I ever bought that was worthwhile - and this sounds the same. Hope a plan for Scarlet is in the works.

The only downside is that you've used up the name. When I first saw the thread I thought you had developed some physical armor, like a shock and weather-resistant jacket. Would still like to see that - especially for the Fixed.

Thank you for replying , Jarred. The money is a side issue. I will pay whatever you want me to if you can provide my EPIC-M buyer an extended warranty. Point noted about money. I will pay the money. I just want the opportunity to buy an extended warranty for my buyer, that is all. I'm trying not to be the one of the handful of people I've talked to that bought and sold EPIC-Ms and just don't bother registering that change with RED. That seems silly to me, but if that is what the option is, then that's what I'll do. I would prefer to pay you money for an extended warranty for a non-original owner and let you know accurately who owns that camera. That seems fair to me.

Thanks Chris... as I mentioned we are discussing some options. It won't be as lucrative as the original owner package, but should give piece of mind.

Making a 1080p camera today is a walk in the park... anyone can do it... cheap. with off the shelf parts. Hell... my iPhone can even do 1080p now. For consumer devices on phones 1080p is great.

But anyone making and marketing a 1080p "professional" camera as "good enough" really should be embarrassed with themselves... and then charging an outrageous markup premium on top of that is even more backwards. At least I think so.
