We just don't like to take chances on media.
thats understandable - nothing worse then loosing footage. and I am sure it will get better in the future as with everything. just thought it was just about the speed... did you actually look into slower speed reliable ones? Don´t know how long the scarlet decision is but the SSDs were developed with EPIC in mind if I am correct?!?! Maybe they will get cheaper by themselves ones the hordes of scarlet user are in need of lots of them and you order them by the millions ;)

EDIT: Just read that other reply - I think they could be color coded and that is then easy - you could also use them in the EPIC just not for high framerate high data rate stuff. oh well - as said maybe prices drop when we demand tons of them...

Hi, media reliability and speed (not only in camera but also when copying files to other drives) is a HUGE deal. Yes, some people use the RED cameras casually but its best to limit the media options to something that RED has some control over since one never knows when even a modest comercial production will use a cheaper media (for cost or convenience reasons) that ends up costing them a lot of money in lost or corrupted files

The Compact Flash Media was and still is a huge bottleneck and risk in the RED camera workflow. In fact I have personally witnessed producers and clients come into a post-production house almost in tears because the have useless clips that were corrupted when being copied. Work with RED cameras long enough and you will see that happen to someone. Yes, it is not REDs fault, its mainly the fault of some digital loader that didnt do his job properly and did not check all clips fully before giving back a card to the CA or DP to be re-used. BUT, those clients that were burned by someones incompetence did not care, to them, using the RED camera was risky. (Yes, I know, film WAS/Is very risky too but in the analog world some risk seems to be acceptable, In the instant gratification digital world, it somehow isnt).

The New REDMAGs solve the speed and reliability problem. Its probably the best media solution out there, less are needed in a production (even a Movie Production shooting at a typical shooting ratio will rarely ever go over 300gb per camera, a lot of times its half that)

Regarding the RED Scarlet, well, I kinda accepted the fact that RED basically scrapped the idea of an affordable ($3-6k with lens) Raw recording video camera and basically made an EPIC lite. It is what it is. Which is still awesome, the more choices the better.

The only space cam mount that does not void warranty is the EPIC lieca M one and even though the prototype does not void the warranty it is still not officially approved as we have never seen the final version.

Not sure what PL mount you are talking about, but its not going to be automatic like the RED mounts are.

It's a confusing question and correct me if I'm wrong, I think he's asking if the SpaceCam's Leica mount's reads as a PL mount somewhere in the camera metadata. SpaceCam is not making a PL mount.

Not sure where to put this. I know our bomb squad reps are busy, and probably taking the weekend off (deserved). But if our order is incorrect is there a way we can change it without cancelling it?

The SpaceCam Leica M mount is a "dumb" mount and is in no way connected to the camera other than mechanically. As Jarred has mentioned, it does not void the warranty. The submitted prototype is exactly the same in dimension and design as the production version. The difference being a metal alloy change in one part and different coatings and changes in the engraving. We look forward to completing the first production run next week and are very pleased with the orders to date. It simply opens up more creative options for users of this fine camera.
As to what the Epic "sees" in the absence of contacting a "smart" mount, I simply do not know. What I do know is that the Leica M's provide "jaw dropping" images rated by one large rental house head, as the best he has ever seen from an Epic.....So!!
The SpaceCam Leica M mount can be installed literally within minutes without changes to the sensor position so quick interchangability can be maintained.
This lens mount is the only lens mount that SpaceCam is making at this time for this camera.

Have the audio capabilities of Scarlet-X been discussed?

My searches turned up nothing and I'd rather not just assume they're the same as Epic (which, I thought wasn't currently enabled.) Does it have built-in mini-XLRs? I thought I saw two 3.5mm jacks up front too.

Also, has it been confirmed if the package prices will also go up on orders placed after Dec. 31st? I don't plan on getting just the body, so I'll feel far less pressure to find $14k in the next month or so if the package price(s) stay the same in the new year.

I buy a Scarlet kit AI Canon mount and i need to know about tha autofocus method with EF lens is that continuos in record mode or not?
I not understand why my order inerent the Scarlet kit was cancelled and splitted in single parts es. Body, redvolts, redmag etc..., also now is in sterling amount not in US dollar and cost me with the exchange 1200€ more than before.
What's about US TAX? I must pay that? The price are TAX included?
    PLS give me a light.
