The SpaceCam Leica M mount is a "dumb" mount and is in no way connected to the camera other than mechanically. As Jarred has mentioned, it does not void the warranty. The submitted prototype is exactly the same in dimension and design as the production version. The difference being a metal alloy change in one part and different coatings and changes in the engraving. We look forward to completing the first production run next week and are very pleased with the orders to date. It simply opens up more creative options for users of this fine camera.
As to what the Epic "sees" in the absence of contacting a "smart" mount, I simply do not know. What I do know is that the Leica M's provide "jaw dropping" images rated by one large rental house head, as the best he has ever seen from an Epic.....So!!
The SpaceCam Leica M mount can be installed literally within minutes without changes to the sensor position so quick interchangability can be maintained.
This lens mount is the only lens mount that SpaceCam is making at this time for this camera.
Have the audio capabilities of Scarlet-X been discussed?
My searches turned up nothing and I'd rather not just assume they're the same as Epic (which, I thought wasn't currently enabled.) Does it have built-in mini-XLRs? I thought I saw two 3.5mm jacks up front too.
Also, has it been confirmed if the package prices will also go up on orders placed after Dec. 31st? I don't plan on getting just the body, so I'll feel far less pressure to find $14k in the next month or so if the package price(s) stay the same in the new year.

I buy a Scarlet kit AI Canon mount and i need to know about tha autofocus method with EF lens is that continuos in record mode or not?
I not understand why my order inerent the Scarlet kit was cancelled and splitted in single parts es. Body, redvolts, redmag etc..., also now is in sterling amount not in US dollar and cost me with the exchange 1200€ more than before.
What's about US TAX? I must pay that? The price are TAX included?
PLS give me a light.

I calculate this, żare correct?
If 1:1 is 55MB/s (440Mb/s) then:
4K 25fps 6:1 > 9,2 MB/s (73,34 Mb/s)
3K 25fps 4:1 > 13,75 MB/s (110 Mb/s)
2K 25fps 3:1 > 18,34MB/s (146,67 Mb/s)
1K 25fps 3:1 > 18,34MB/s (146,67 Mb/s)
Some important questions:
What bitrate does Scarlet have? I see in the tech specs web "16-bit RAW Processing : Compression choices of 18:1 to 3:1" How much is it in Mb/s?
Can Scarlet generate QT Proxys?
What kind of resolution and bitrate can I record by HD-SDI out?
Can't comment on how the Spacecam mount will function as we have not seen the final product. We have heard some concerns with contamination from dust and light since there are no seals anywhere but i think they are fixing that... even if they do not fix that it will not void your warranty.. you would just need to be careful around light and around dust with the Spacecam one.
Which probably is a good segway to announce....
The Official RED Leica M mount ( that is sealed ) and will work with Scarlet and Epic out of the box is finishing testing and should be in the store early December...
Aluminum version $800.
I've been trying to decide between the Ti PL mount package and the less expensive Canon AL mount package as my entry buy putting the savings toward a Leica mount. The thing is, I don't own any Canon glass and am not really very interested in owning any either. I also don't own any PL lenses but am leaning a little in that direction for now if I have to buy one as I'd prefer not to fall too much further to the back of the line by waiting. It's kind of a techie Catch 22...
C.J. was correct that I wanted to know what the camera was identifying the mount as in the metadata as I didn't want to screw that up and I'm still curious about that with regard to this new Leica mount as well. Obviously I want to make sure I don't violate warranty and also that my CS5.5 software will give me as much accurate information about my recordings as possible...
I think what is most confusing to me is what happens when you have an adapter on a mount (does this dumb down your post production info?) and also if I should just itemize on my order? Buy the mount later as I wait on the order? I do feel the next lens I actually buy for this camera will be a Leica. Thank you all for your help and advice!
