+1 indeed
I guess it's just makes me a little bit disappointed that after all the work Jim and his team done they have to read all the whining.
They delivered a special and very passionate little lady and she has all the capabilities to change the entry high end market.
Canon advertised their announcement as historic, but frankly, the one that will make history is painted battleship gray. We'll see that in the 2013 festival season.
I'll bet anyone a fine dining in London...
Haha, let's see what happens if we complain on a Sony discussion board..... oh wait, they don't have one. Regardless, even if they did, many have over the years complained about very valid issues (on their $60,000-90,000 cameras) to no avail. Hence the acronym S.O.N.Y. was coined; Soon Only Not Yet. So, as much as some might wish for different specs, prices, availabilities, and options, what is happening is actually quite cool. I am definitively NOT one of the fan boys here, but we all have to admit that Red has done more than just bring a couple cameras to the market, they changed the market for the better and forced others to adapt.
Now that's enough of back patting, let's go shoot something now. :)
Hi all,
Placed an order for the Scarlet X Ai Canon Mount package, couldn't be more excited. Have ordered from RED before but never this big a purchase.
Made deposit on a credit card, when my bomb squad rep contacts me can I designate the remainder to be paid with a checking card or wire transfer?
I imagine this is a standard request but I'm erring on the side of caution. Don't want to cause any hiccups in the process. Long live RED!
Thanks guys,
Drew
Wow, thanks to the Red team for their hard work and amazing camera announcement. Woohoo! I have finally finished reading all 72 pages of this thread.
I will most likely be making an order for the scarlet with the Ti mount today, but I have a couple of questions that I haven't seen answered.
If I get the base production package with the upgraded Ti mount will it ship on or around November 17th? If I decide to make my own production package will I get the 5" touchscreen as quickly as if I ordered the base production package? Will the 5" touch screen be available when the Scarlet X's ship?
Here is a couple of non order related questions:
With the Dragon upgrade coming next year, I understand that the money to upgrade a Scarlet will be more than that to upgrade an Epic but how will the power be between the two? Will the Epic still be more powerful and offer more fps or resolution options than a Scarlet with the Dragon upgrade? When will stage four deposits be taken for the Epic X?
Thanks,
Mike

I see it as an attempt to try and save the promised high fps, but below 1080p I don't really see it making sense in a pro camera.
Jarred, Jim? What's your take on 1K?

Exactly. There are plenty of professional applications for some high speed 1k footage!
