It actually turned into a good thing that we got raided. The 300 turned into a team on a mission to help us get the word out. It was really impressive to see everyone step up to solve the problem.

My bet is that whoever targeted our system could not have realized that they actually helped us. I guess this is the definition of ironic.

What an incredible day... The information coming from Tonaci was invaluable. I cannot thank him and Mark L. Pederson enough for getting the word out. I placed my orders ASAP by calling RED. The Bomb Squad f'n killed it... Brent and Marco ROCK!

Scarletuser also saved the day... The bastards didn't see that one coming did they! So I ran over an signed in for the first time since 2008! ;)

I have to say from the get go I enjoyed the humble announcement with the focus on the new camera. There was no attempt to dazzle the audience with bright shiny objects. Just a simple sizzle reel to get you excited about what you can do with this new device.

It was somewhat moving to see how Jim handled things when the internet goblins decided to fight back. Going off script and pulling a little presentation and Q&A together out of thin air.

Also when Jim announced the new Scarlet specifications everybody was left in a state of awe for a moment. Suddenly that unicorn was very real.

Then the mass tweeting, cell phone photos, Ipad photos flying around the internet.

I was following Tonaci - good job getting the info out, but my corporate strategy group hates you for distracting me from helping with our final project... I love you for it haha.

Without a doubt. This actually also made us on the other side of the barricade more fired up and ready to commit. It was a "plot twist" worthy of a movie. The moment I got the info I immediately went for all means necessary to place my order. This didn't really happen in the "other" announcement...

I can't seem to find Fujio Mitarai's twitter account to learn how he feel's about his companies announcements today. Also, he doesn't seem to be posting on any of Canon's support pages. His accounts must be under attack... ;)

To the people that attacked a companies message board, thanks for making the night more entertaining and helping spread the word! I think you guys discovered an incredibly unique way to showcase your new products by letting some of your most loyal customers help you out. Not only did they help you out, it was their idea to make an event out of it in the first place right? heh heh... I think I almost prefer the spontaneous but well coordinated attack on the rest of the internet that helped get the word out. It is a group of people tight enough knit, that it just works, and you still fly below the radar of people who have no idea what they are talking about.

Thanks Mike Seymour, John Montgomery, Tonaci Tran, and Matthew Tremblay for keeping me well informed.

As soon as you were halfway through saying "Yeah you can take pictures now" I already had the iPad at the ready... And still somehow managed to get my order in sometime tonight... I hope :-/

All my non-Hollywood Facebook friends were pretty confused. I definitely clogged up the feed pretty good with all the RED details

I love the title of the first post... Very clever wording. I thought it was referring to another announcement today that only HELPED to show the world that "If it wasn't for RED, we would all be stuck thanking another kind of 300" I mean seriously, C300? With all the money / supply chain / engineering capabilities that Canon has, that is the best they could do against RED? And at TWICE the cost? That thing looks like a 5D that turned into one of those Huge Zombies from left for dead that spit green guts at you. Scarlet, on the other hand looks like the gun that takes down said zombie...

I'm going to sew that on a pillow. Oh wait, I don't know how to sew. It would still make a good pillow, though.
